Website: thinkaboutyoureyes.com When was the last time you had your eyes checked? Did you know one in five people are at risk for vision loss and preventive care can address many of the problems? Think About Your Eyes is a campaign from the Foundation For Eye Heath Awareness to increase awareness about vision health and the importance of yearly, comprehensive eye exams. For the next five Thursdays we’ll be talking about Think About Your Eyes and sharing their educational eye care messages. Don’t think vision loss is an issue? Over 30 million Americans have a visual impairment that affects their quality of life. At an eye exam, your eye doctor can prescribe solutions to help you see more clearly. You don’t have time once or twice a year to make sure you keep your perfect vision (or correct your bad vision)? Think About Your Eyes can help you find an eye care provider in your area. About 80% of what we learn is through our eyes, yet one study shows a whopping 85% of America’s pre-schoolers haven’t received a vision exam by age five. As children get older they get vision screenings in school, but those screenings often aren’t enough to detect vision problems. Adults aren’t in the clear either, as we age, we’re more susceptible to cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration. Learn more about why you should get your eyes checked from Think About Your Eyes and know that each week for the next month we’ll be on you about going to an eye care provider! Think About Your Eyes!

thinkaboutyoureyes.com The giant eyeball is my best friend! For the past two weeks we’ve introduced you to the Think About Your Eyes campaign. By now we hope you’ve at least thought of finding an eye car provider and getting an eye exam done. From some quick searching around the web, it’s estimated there are over 100 diseases that can affect your eyes and the majority of them are preventable if you see an eye doctor. Doesn’t that sound like something you should do? It’s estimated that 62 million people are at risk for vision loss and half of those people did not have an eye exam last year. And from a recent study, less than 50% of Americans get eye exams more frequently than every two years. Think About Your Eyes wants to increase awareness about vision health and the importance of yearly eye exams. There’s no product for them to sell, they just want you to think about your eyes! We’re glad to have these Think About Your Eyes Thursdays in conjunction with their TV and radio ads, a dedicated website, public relations events, social media and outreach to eye care providers. It’s great to see a national campaign using our t-shirt wearing services to help spread the message and knowing the IWYS community is helping out too. Get out there and Think About Your Eyes!
